General Surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal organs and intestines including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder.  In addition General Surgeons treat diseases involving the skin, hernias, and provide comprehensive breast care.


Thomas Eubanks, D.O.

Dr. Eubanks received his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1992. He completed his general surgery training at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois in 1997.  He also completed a fellowship in laparoscopic surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington in 1998.  Dr. Eubanks is certified by the American Board of Surgery.

With a special interest in gastrointestinal tract surgery, flexible endoscopy is an integral part of Dr. Eubanks practice. He also has extensive experience with laparoscopic procedures and the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease.

John Domreis, M.D.

Dr. Domreis received his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York in 1997.  He completed his general surgery training at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon in 2003. Dr. Domreis is certified by the American Board of Surgery.

He performs and has extensive experience in a wide range of operative, endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures. This includes comprehensive breast care procedures, and lymphatic mapping for both melanoma and breast cancer.Dr. John Domreis and his wife, Wendy Domreis, P.N.P., have two small children and reside in Portland.

Tyler Mittelstaed, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Mittelstaedt was born and raised in Wilsonville, OR and graduated from West Linn High School.  He attended Montana State University, where he received a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering.  He pursued opportunities in international travel and volunteerism in South Asia and South America before attending Oregon Health & Science University, where he completed a combined MD/MPH with an emphasis in epidemiology and biostatistics.   His master’s thesis was completed in conjunction with the OHSU Department of Family Medicine, focusing on objective metrics of patient-provider continuity in primary care practice (JABFM 2013).   Dr. Mittelstaedt was accepted to the OHSU General Surgery Residency and completed his training in 2017.  He is now a practicing General Surgeon with Portland Surgical Specialists in Portland, Oregon. 

Dr. Mittelstaedt's surgical interests include laparoscopic and open approaches to abdominal wall, inguinal and paraesophageal hernias; GERD, benign and malignant colorectal disease, screening and diagnostic colonoscopy/endoscopy, benign and malignant breast disease, gallbladder disease, skin and soft tissue lesions and generalized gastrointestinal disorders.  

He lives in SE Portland with his wife and two children.
